Delicious in Dungeon, by Ryoko Kui Vol 01

Well, this is another manga that we got into because of watching anime on Netflix. Netflix puts on some great sci-fi, fantasy and anime series. The problem is they do it One. Season. At. A. Time. Which means that we have to wait and wait for the next season. And usually something happens, like COVID, or an actors/writers strike which slows down production. Or, like in "Stranger Things" the actors playing the roles get too old to play the characters.

But with the anime shows they're usually based on established manga and you don't have to wait until the next show or season airs. You can track down the manga and get caught up.

This is what we did with "Delicious in Dungeon". We got tired of waiting for Netflix to post new episodes, so we started reading the manga.

"Delicious in Dungeon" is a completely silly story about adventurers on a rescue mission to get as deep into the dungeon as fast as possible because their friend has been eaten by a dragon and they want to rescue her before she is too digested that they cannot use a resurrection spell on her to bring her back to life.

Because they're in such a hurry they can't afford to waste time lugging tons of supplies into the bowels of the dungeon. Instead they decide to forage for food while adventuring. In other words, they decide to live off the land and eat what they kill.

Fortunately they meet a character who specializes in dungeon cookery, he's like a dungeon nutritionist, and he has a burning desire to eat, you guessed it, DRAGON.

So they team up and head down into the dungeon. The first few stories are about them learning how everything, even the most creepy looking monster, can be turned into a delicious meal.

This was a fun group of stories to read. You can tell that there are other things going on in the dungeon and secrets to be revealed. And Falin, the girl who was a snack for a dragon, had better hope that he has a slow digestion because the heroes seem to be taking their sweet time getting back to her.

Y'all take care! Read every day and read for fun!
